Presteigne Broadcast flies high at Farnborough

Despite atrocious weather that forced the early curtailment of the first day of the Farnborough International Airshow, broadcast systems provided by Presteigne Broadcast Hire performed flawlessly throughout the week-long biennial event to enable hundreds of thousands of aviation business leaders and public enthusiasts to enjoy the full range of events at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire from 11-17 July.

Contracted by Mediatec, Presteigne designed, project managed, and operated high-quality RF transmission feeds for end-user Smart AV from Farnborough’s transmission suite to four large Mediatec screens set up at various locations throughout the airfield, which were occasionally moved around the site as circumstances required.

Presteigne also provided a site-wide radio talkback system to keep the entire engineering staff in constant contact without reliance on the cell phone network.

“Farnborough” is one of the world’s largest and most important airshows, where companies representing new aircraft, technologies, and components for civil, business, defence, and space-related aviation assemble with buyers to consider, compare, and create often multi-billion dollar deals.

As is traditional, the final two days are given over to a public display, both static and live flying, of some of the latest aircraft as well as old favourites.

Presteigne’s Manager of RF & Special Cameras, Martin Sexton, said, “Farnborough is such a high-profile event, and the stakes can be equally high, so it’s important that everyone gets the best possible look at everything that’s going on. Even though you can certainly hear the new supersonic Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II making its first Farnborough appearance, you want to make sure everyone knows where to look for it.”
